As Windows 11 is being deployed across organisations, I would like to share with you some of the features that have been beneficial for me in the recent build over the past few months.
Copilot App
The Copilot app, which is currently in preview mode, is one of my favourite and most frequently used apps on Windows 11. This built-in app enables me to interact with Microsoft's AI assistant directly from my PC. The app has a sleek and convenient interface that opens up in a side panel, so I can multitask and work on my important documents without any hassle. I find this app very useful for tasks such as note taking, rephrasing sentences, replying or summarising emails, and more. It feels like a cutting-edge app that is bound to become more powerful as AI integrates into our daily lives.
Multiple Desktops
As a consultant who works with multiple clients and tenants, I often have to deal with a lot of windows and apps open on my PC. That's why I love the new 'Virtual Desktop' feature in Windows 11. This feature lets me create multiple desktops on my PC, so I can organise and group my windows and apps according to different tasks. It's like using 'old school' RDP onto servers, but much more convenient and user-friendly. It has been a great help for me in managing my workload and keeping things separate to avoid confusion.
Tabs in Notepad
I have a bad habit of using Notepad for quick notes, instead of OneNote. I often end up with multiple notepads open with different bits of data, which can be quite confusing. Luckily, the latest update to Notepad has solved this problem. Now, I can add tabs to my notepad, and keep all my notes in one place. This is a handy little update by Microsoft that makes the app more organised and efficient, and also saves my PC from running multiple instances of Notepad.
Screen Recording in Snipping Tool
One of the most sensible and welcome features in Windows 11 is the screen recording option in the built-in 'Snipping Tool' app. Before, users had to rely on third-party solutions or the Xbox Game App, which was not always available or suitable for my clients. Now, I can easily record my screen with the Snipping Tool app, which I already use and love. This is very handy for me when I need to make short 'How To' videos or demonstrate something specific.
These features on Windows 11 have been very helpful for me, and I encourage you to give them a try and see how they can improve your productivity and efficiency.
