The Copilot Features I Can’t Wait to Test

There's loads of cool new stuff is coming up in Copilot. I'm excited to try out some of these features and I reckon they’ll be a game-changer in making our workdays smoother!

Prepare for meeting (Outlook)

Microsoft is introducing a new feature in Outlook, the ‘Prepare for Meeting’, powered by Microsoft Copilot. This feature will display a ‘Prepare’ button in your inbox when a meeting is upcoming, providing a summary and relevant files for the meeting.

Copilot will also assist with scheduling meetings, understanding meeting title requests, suggesting attendees, files, and available times, and drafting agendas. It can extract information from email threads and suggest actions like scheduling a meeting, summarising discussions, and finding meeting times.

Restricted SharePoint Search (RSS)

This will enable Global/Tenant and SharePoint Admins to refine search parameters by disabling organization-wide search and selecting specific SharePoint sites. These chosen sites, in conjunction with users’ OneDrive files, will be searchable and accessible via Copilot. Regardless of whether Enterprise Search or RSS is enabled, users can still interact with their OneDrive data through Copilot

Schedule from email with Copilot (Outlook)

Copilot simplifies the transition from an email thread to a meeting by initiating scheduling directly from the conversation. Clicking “Schedule with Copilot” generates a ready-to-send meeting invite, complete with a Copilot-created title, agenda, and summary, a pre-populated attendee list from the thread, and an attachment of the original email. This efficient process saves you time and effort

Additional file type support for content generation (PDFs & Excel)

Another feature of Copilot for Microsoft 365 is the ability to reference different file types when generating content. Currently, Copilot supports Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Outlook emails as sources of information and inspiration. You can select any of these files from your OneDrive or SharePoint sites and use them to create new content with Copilot's assistance. Soon, Copilot will also support PDF documents and Excel spreadsheets as additional file types that you can reference. This will enable you to access more data and insights from your files and generate more accurate and relevant content with Copilot.

What Copilot features are you excited to try out? Let us know in the comments or contact me on Linkedin for further information.
